If you are new to Yoga (perhaps a medical professional has recommended you take it up) this is a chance for you to experience it taught by a clinically trained, dedicated, passionate teacher, Pippa.
Research has shown that yoga can prevent or slow — and in some cases even reverse — the process of bone loss. Resisting gravity puts a mild stress on the bones. That stress forces bones into laying down new growth. In this way, yoga is no different from jogging, walking, or playing tennis. But unlike some other weight-bearing activities, yoga won’t damage cartilage or over stress the joints.
Yoga is a wonderful way to improve posture and reduce fracture risk. With a regular practice, yoga will improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, endurance, muscle mass, agility, and energy level—all important for older adults concerned about bone health.
