Words are so important to us, they are very powerful, they can make us feel inspired, sad, positive, negative.  Its really important to notice not only how you talk to others but also and equally important how you talk to yourself.

I’m sure most of you know that recently a group of us did the Pilates Detox Club, what was really interesting to me was the language used by many….‘I’m trying to lose weight”, “I’m going to try and exercise every day” etc, these are statements we use all the time.  If we take the time to think about what we are actually saying, when we say ‘try’.
What we really mean is that we are NOT going to achieve this,

Try means we are setting ourselves up to fail!

Try means that we have already given ourselves an opt out….well I tried but didn’t manage it this time, I’ll try again later!

Try means you have already acknowledged you won’t succeed to yourself and others.

Try is breaking that promise to yourself.

Remember my earlier article about breaking promises to ourselves?? The negative effects that has on our self esteem!

So, instead of saying I’m trying to lose weight change it to a much more positive “I’m being healthy!”, eating clean is putting your health first, weight loss is a great side effect of healthy eating, same for daily exercise, its about being healthy…..so no more ‘trying’, get rid of that word and ‘do’ – Be Healthy 🙂
