“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” ― Hippocrates

Our next Well-Being Wednesday session is on Wednesday 25th May 2016 at 1.15pm at Balance Studio in Newark with Jules Weldon, NIMH Medical Herbalist and Real Food Champion.

Good food really is the start place for optimal wellness. With so many sensational headlines and a barrage of marketing hype, how do you know where to start?

This Balance session will take the form of a conversation, so please do come ready to ask questions and share your own tips and experiences. Much of the information Jules has to share with you will be included in a handout so that you will have something to refer to when you get home. The information she provides will include links to useful websites, some good books about food and recipes for a couple of the day-to-day nutritious things you can do to make a huge difference to your own health immediately.

To start things off, we will see how many of us are deficient in zinc, as an example of just one of the many crucial minerals we need to maintain health.

We will explore healthy food choices through discussion about:
• Organic or non-organic? Or is there a happy medium?
• Should we cook with butter or oil?
• Should we choose fat-free products or not?
• What is ‘live’ yogurt and why we should we bother with it?
• Diet coke…….. really????
• Why are so many people now avoiding gluten?
• Fruit, veggies, weeds and seeds – variety, the spice of life!

We will discuss buying real food, what to look for, reading food labels and what it all means.

And finally, we will talk about how to eat for wellness. We will also discuss some of the ways to boost our nutrient intake through food. Food is an enormous subject, but Jules has condensed the basics into a few simple guidelines for practical application every day.

Whatever your current level of knowledge about nourishment, this session will help you make a few more changes to your diet for your own health and wellbeing.

Please bring food packaging that is typical in your household. It will help to stimulate the discussion and make it relevant to you.

Please note: there won’t be time to talk about specific diets for specific illnesses in this session.

The session will last approximately one hour, please reply to this message or email me at info@pilatesbyphilippa.com if you’d like to book on to this session.

The drop-in rate for you (or a friend) is £15. If you have bought an annual pass already, or would like to buy an annual pass, there is no additional charge.

You do not need to bring anything specific with you, but you may like to bring a drink for during the session. We will provide refreshments (tea, herbal tea, water, coffee) after the session for anyone who wants to stay and have a chat.

Looking forward to seeing you
Philippa 🙂
