We’ve all heard the phrase that she/he has got out of bed on the wrong side this morning! Basically, we mean they are downright grumpy/miserable to be around. Although we may make a joke about it, it really is important how you start your day. The first hour out of bed has a huge effect on how you feel for the rest of the day!
I can’t emphasise enough how important this is. If you do nothing to change your mindset and you remain in that negative place, it will have an effect on the people around you, the decisions you make, your ability to be productive, your confidence, your thoughts etc etc.
It really is not a great place to be! Here are some tips that I use to try and ensure that I change my mindset into a much more dynamic mindset if I wake up feeling negative that day.
1. Sleep – try and get over 7 hours sleep per night: yes, it is as important as exercise and eating healthily.
2. Meditate – spend as little as 5 minutes meditating before you get up to calm your mind and aid with clarity.
3. Exercise – again just 5-10mins of Pilates, or if you prefer stretching, or go for a 7 minute HIT session – whatever suits you, but just make sure you move!
4. Eat protein for breakfast – your body wants protein first thing, not processed carbs or sugar, and it will keep you feeling fuller for far longer.
5. Read or listen to something that uplifts you.
6. Think or write down all the things that are New & Good in your life.
7. Review your Avatar (Life Vision) and make sure you’re moving towards it.
Don’t let a day out of your life be spoilt because you woke up feeling ‘down’ – try some/all of the above and see what a difference it makes 🙂
