This May, learn all about Myofascial Release, where a gentle, sustained pressure is applied to those knots in your body, allowing the connective tissue to release.
Picture a stick of cold butter… If you jab your finger into it sharply, you’re just going to hurt your finger, and not even make a dent in the butter. But if you place your finger on the butter, and apply gentle pressure, you’ll find you’re able to slowly sink into the stick of butter, melting your way into it.
In this 90-minute workshop, we will melt the fuzz with warm ups, mobilise the nervous system and enjoy a combination of dynamic and static stretching exercises. We will also practise Self Myofascial Release with tools such as rollers and balls.
We will provide all equipment, but suggest you wear loose, comfortable clothes you can easily move around in. Layers are a good idea too so you can keep warm as the stretches we will be doing involve sustained holds, and you will get more out of stretching if the tissues are warm: a long sleeved top, long leggings/tracksuit bottoms and a fleece are ideal.
