Breathe – Belly breathing has so many benefits, it’s a whole newsletter by itself! Breathing is one of our core principles, and bringing your attention to your breath throughout the day is an easy way to increase your energy and vitality, decrease your stress and pain levels.
Place your hands on your belly, breathe in through your nose and allow your belly to expand in to your hands, breathe out through the mouth and feel the belly pull back towards your spine.
Take time out of your day to stop and do just 6 belly breaths – notice how good you feel!
Move with purpose – as you go about your normal routine, take the time to notice how you move, how you are walking, standing, sitting. Being aware of your movements is the first step to improving your posture! Stand tall, stand on your ‘glutes’ is one of my favourite sayings, opening up the hip joints, lifting yourself out of your waist, allow the shoulders to relax, the neck to lengthen and keep your eye level up. Moving with purpose or awareness will dramatically improve your posture, the way you look and your pain levels!
Head nods – getting a lot of headaches, simple head nods will lengthen the back of your neck, stretch those over tight muscles and allow your shoulders to relax. When turning your head, think lead from the back of your head not the front, notice how your head and neck instantly go into a much better alignment and those tension headaches will disappear!
Finally, be kind to your Feet! Have you tried rolling the sole of your foot on a golf ball or spiky ball??? Try it – our feet hold lots of tension and that can cause ankle, knee and hip problems! Release your feet and the benefits can be felt all the way up your legs 🙂
