I’ve had my car for nearly 5 years now, it was quite a few years old when I brought it, but looked in great shape, very shiny, very red, drove very well. Only a few months in and disaster struck, my lovey (new to me) car was broken! Well, the turbo had gone and to cut a long story short, I had it replaced at a cost of £1,500.
Of course I was disappointed, but like all of us, I need my car. I need to get to work, do my shopping, collect children, visit friends & family, go on trips – yes I definitely need my car.
Some more time passed, possibly a year, I don’t really remember, but my lovely shiny red car that looked so good was playing up again! Back to the garage, part replaced at a cost of £400 and off I went again. Literally within a few months I was back again – whatever they had replaced on one side, the other one needed it now, another £400 lighter.
Now, I don’t like the idea of breaking down, so I get my car serviced regularly, often finding that something little is wrong, and let’s not forget the MOT, replacing tyres, headlight bulbs and ………of course, diesel! Now that all adds up to a lot of money spent on my shiny little red car over the years!
But, I’m ok with that as I know that I need my car so it’s a good investment
So, where am I going with this…….
Well, how much money to you invest in YOU?
Do you think you are worthy of investing in? If so, what parts of you do you invest in – body, mind, soul, all three? Or are you like many, many others and put yourself so far down on the list, paying for your partner, your children, your home, your car, your holidays, your children’s education, your bills, your wifi, your Netflix, your Sky, your gadgets, your clothes, your new iPhone, your laptop…. Do all these come before your Well Being?
Interesting to think about. Over the years I’ve had numerous clients say they would love to do Pilates weekly, but can’t afford it; they would love to try coaching as are so stuck, but can’t afford it; they would love to do RTT as they so desperately want to resolve their issues but they can’t justify the cost – you get the idea. These are the same people who drive cars, wear nice clothes, go out for coffee, lunch, holiday, spa day, have phones, laptops and so on.
Now, I am not for one minute suggesting that you shouldn’t do any of the above, far from it, I truly believe all of life is there for us to embrace, but all I want you to consider is why it is so much easier for us to value ‘fixing’ our car but not ‘fixing’ ourselves?
Makes you think, doesn’t it?
We can be just like our cars – shiny, red and looking fabulous on the outside but breaking down on the inside! Just like our cars we need regular maintenance, and I’m not just talking about our bodies and doing Pilates, but we need to regulalry maintain our minds and souls to keep our minds healthy.
YOU are important and YOU should be at the top of your priority list.
So when was the last time YOU invested in YOU?
I’ve spent thousands investing in me so that I can bring you the latest in Pilates; so much knowledge about Low Back Pain; how you can get the best out of your life and be the best version of you through RTT and Mindset coaching. It is an ongoing journey and investment so that I can not only elevate my life, but yours too!
