How many books, articles, courses, conversations have you read, listened to, partaken in where you were thinking, ‘mmmm, that’s great, but I already know that’.
Over the 20 years of running my own business, I have met so many people and had so many discussions where everyone says that they ‘already know that’. I’m sure that is the truth, however, they are still in the same place they were 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 1 year ago. Everything in their life is exactly the same – exactly. So why, If they already know that has nothing changed?
The trouble with ‘but I already know that’ is two-fold:
1. Firstly, we instantly close down and shut off to what we are hearing or reading. We stop exploring that concept or idea as we know we know it and therefore we switch off. This means that we could potentially be missing out on so much as it might be what we already know but put across in a different way, a way that makes you think differently, a way that resonates with you more, a way that really brings that concept to life….. if we gave it the chance. There is always something new to learn, even when we think already we know something.
2. Secondly, and even more importantly, is that yes, we may already ‘know that’ but we have to ask ourselves are we actually doing it? This one is huge and I come across it all the time – we understand and know what we should be doing but we are still not doing it. Knowing something is one thing, but doing it is something totally different.
It’s like when I say once you have awareness you can make a choice, but you ONLY ever make the choice at the point of action. Simply deciding you are going to do something differently, but not doing it, doesn’t count. That is not making a choice, that is thinking about making a choice – two very different things.
How many times have you read something and thought, ‘what a brilliant idea, I need to do that’ and then you don’t action it? Next time you see the same thing and you think, ‘but I already know that’ and you may well do, but if you still haven’t actioned it, then that knowledge is of no benefit to you.
Nothing changes because you haven’t done anything differently.
Knowledge, knowing things, exploring new ideas, concepts and ways of doing things are great, but the power comes, the expansion comes, when you actually start to ‘do it’, when you action what you have learnt.
‘Knowing’ without ‘Doing’ keeps you stuck.
Pilates
Knowing the Pilates exercises is great, knowing the theory behind why they work so well, knowing what works for what issues, what the benefit of certain exercises are is all very nice to know, but if you are not doing the Pilates exercises, I can guarantee you won’t be building a strong core, increasing your flexibility, moving better and with ease. Knowing won’t get you your desired results.
Rapid Transformational Therapy
Knowing the limiting beliefs that are holding you back is great, but if you do nothing to eliminate and change those beliefs, then your behavioural patterns will remain the same. Knowing won’t get you your desired results.
Soul Realignment
Knowing who you are at Soul level is great, but if you don’t express your gifts, shine your talents and live in alignment to who you truly are, you life will never be full of fun, fulfilment, freedom and happiness. Knowing won’t get you your desired results.
It is what you do with your knowledge that is truly transformational 🙂
