This is something we have been thinking about on our ‘Elevate your Life’ Mindset course, when looking at Mindset and the difference between a Fixed Mindset and a Dynamic Mindset.

One of the things that people can have a fixed mindset about is Risk Taking – we all like to be in our ‘comfort zone’, but it is here that we do not challenge ourselves, we do not take risks, we simply stay stuck where we are.

If we start to challenge ourselves, take risks, then we have to step out of our comfort zone and into what we call our ‘scary shit zone!’

If we want anything to change in our lives, then we have no choice, we cannot stay stuck doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result.  We simply (though not necessarily easy) have to start stepping out of our comfort and into scary shit!

I promise you that is where change happens 🙂

So, here are a few things to start you on your way:

1. Be Yourself – don’t try and be anyone else but yourself! Sometimes we are all a bit prone to try and please others by being the person we think they want us to be – this leads to unhappiness, and is not sustainable.  You really are just great exactly the way you are, have confidence, we are all unique and that’s what makes life interesting, remember just be the best version of YOU that you can be 🙂

2. Take that Trip – following on from last week’s article…. don’t put off the things you really want to do…. you might run out of time to do them!  That trip that you’ve been longing to do, only the time has never been quite right, the money is always needed elsewhere, you don’t think you deserve to spend the money on yourself…. and so the list goes on! YOU are important, this is your life RIGHT NOW, so live it and stop putting the things you truly desire off……. the right time will never come!

3. Asking for Help – this is a really interesting one: what makes us think that we can do everything all by ourselves? What makes us think that we know soooo much about everything that we don’t need to learn from others? I always say the moment I stop learning about Pilates, Health, Well Being, Nutrition, Mindset is the day I stop being a good teacher!  You can NEVER know everything there is to know, so ask someone who has more knowledge than you!  I have had a Mentor for the past year and it has helped to transform my work and life.  You cannot grow without seeking help, it’s not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength.

4. Doing something Alone – we get so concerned about doing things by ourselves, worried that we might not manage, feel lonely, scared etc.  However, if you take the leap and do something by yourself, holiday, event, move, whatever it is, you soon realise that you can cope really well, that you will meet many like minded people along the way, you will discover hidden strengths about yourself.  Let’s face it, it’s just one small step on the way to being the best version of YOU that you can possible be 🙂

Take these Risks – YOU won’t regret it!
