This subject is very close to my heart, because it’s something I get asked about an awful lot – how do I achieve so much? How do I do so much?
The answer is really very simple: I achieve an awful lot when I flow, and almost nothing gets done when I force.
When I allow life to flow, ideas and concepts to flow, creativity to flow (in fact without flow we simply don’t get to be creative), then life FEELS easy. Stuff happens and exciting opportunities pop up, and the more I allow this flow, the more it happens. I believe that flow comes from your internal energy: when that is high, it literally resonates out of you. People can FEEL that energy, they are attracted to you, they want to be with you, do things with you, be part of whatever it is you’re doing – they sense that internal energy and how natural, easy and wonderful it feels and want a bit of it too.
The opposite is also true when we try and force things, and a lot of us live our whole lives forcing things. We want to force our finances to be what we expect them to be. We want to force our relationships to be exactly what we think they should be. We want to force our business to give us exactly what we think we want. We want to force our fitness, to force our health, we want to force life to be how we think it should be.
Where does that lead us? It leads to never feeling satisfied, feelings of discontent, feelings of despair, feelings of disillusionment, feelings of lack, feelings of frustration, feelings of overwhelm – the list goes on and on.
It NEVER leads us to happiness and joy.
Now, I’m not saying you don’t have to work hard and you don’t have to try, of course you do. I, like many of you, have worked hard for years. I’ve learnt (slowly!) that the difference is to be fluid, to accept and allow the changes that come, not to attach to the outcome but to trust that things will work out exactly as they are meant to (and that might not be the way I thought). The less rigid I have been, the more opportunities have come my way. I’ve met the people that have helped me along the way and it has been far less stressful and so much more fun.
You will all have noticed how many different things we now try at Balance, we are opening up, exploring, expanding and engaging in so much more, and not only does it FEEL wonderful, but it keeps growing.
This year is the first time we have put on our Flourish retreat, run with the lovely Louise, and it was sold out within two weeks. It was conceived over a brunch, we both thought it sounded so much fun and we ran with it, with really no idea how it would be received or even what it would look like – we went with the flow. We were so excited and enthusiastic about it that that’s what shone through, people picked up on that and wanted to be a part of it.
Sue Cooper asked me about this on Friday and again I’m just going with it: I’m excited to announce that Balance will be part of MOMM – a global mass meditation event on May 11th. This is going to be an amazing experience and let’s see where this flow takes us – details coming soon.
And finally, a date has been set for my Book Launch: it will be at Balance on Saturday May 18th, 2pm to 4pm, and I would so love to see you all there to support this exciting event. I’ll tempt you with drinks and nibbles – again more details coming soon, but do put these dates in your diary.
To finish, I wanted to share my top two suggestions that have helped me achieve so much more flow in my life:
1. Let go of the outcome, it doesn’t have to be a certain way or look a certain way. Do this and you will enjoy the journey so much more.
2. Prioritise LIFE – you should spend as much time doing things that make your heart sing as you do working, and don’t ever feel guilty for doing that.
Find you Flow!
