Wow, that sounds a touch dramatic, doesn’t it? But, there is so much truth in it – as far as I know, we are only here the once, or at least we only ever remember being here the once with this group of people….. so we really need to make it the best experience we possibly can.
Last week I talked abut self esteem and how much that holds us back, well this week it’s really the same theme. I find it so sad when so many of us ‘hide’; we don’t share our talents with the world for fear of being judged, we are so convinced that somehow we are lacking, simply not good enough, or certainly not as good as others, that we just ‘hide’. We think that what we have to say isn’t important enough, that we shouldn’t even be sharing out opinions/values /skills/talents with others. I even hear people apologising for being them, apologising for asking for help, apologising if they do express their point of view, apologising for just being, and I find it really quite sad.
My lovely grandson (age 9 years) will say he can’t do things, he’s not good enough, others are so much better than him etc……at 9 he’s learnt to judge himself and feel judged by others :-(. And because he feels this way, he ‘hides’. He stops trying because he’s already convinced he will fail, or people with laugh and so I spend a lot of time convincing him that he is PERFECT just the way he is and the most important thing is what he feels about himself, not what others think. So, I often do silly little things with him to get this point across, when I walk him home I will often skip, we walk backwards, we sing, we fool around and at first he was looking around wondering who would be looking, he would say Mama you can’t do that – my response is always “says who?!” and it is literally 2 minutes before he’s joining in, laughing and not caring too! I like him to have tools, things that he can use when he starts to wobble, so I’ve taught him all about Warrior Words – these are our strong words and I have proven it to him by showing him how much stronger his Warrior words make his body, so he knows they work! Now, when he’s playing football or in a race, he says his warrior words in his head and yep, he’s faster, he’s more confident, he’s happier and his self belief is great 🙂
It really is easier than you think to make a change, the ONLY thing you have to do is take ACTION! Not just learn – yes, you need the knowledge on how – but if you don’t take ACTION it really does not matter how much knowledge you have.
I’m already feeling the buzz around 2018, I’m ready for more changes, I’m ready for more learning but most importantly more action taking! This morning, I was discussing with a client about some of the wonderful, thought-expanding, life-changing courses I have been on in 2017, and she was so keen for me to share some of my new knowledge with you all, so I have come home and put a date in my diary… It will be another part of my “Be You!” series that I will be running throughout 2018 – details below.
I urge you, if you want to make changes, if you want next year to be different, more fun, more expansive, more YOU, then try some of the new things we are offering at Balance and let’s make an agreement that we are no longer “hiding” – it’s time to learn how to “Be You!”
