I think we are ALL guilty of this: we spend our time rushing around doing, doing, doing, never feeling as if we have enough time to Do all that we want to Do. We fill every last minute of every day with Doing stuff and phew, we wonder why we are all so exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed and not very happy!
This has been very much on my mind this week, we discussed it in our last Mindset session and how Doing and not Being leaves us out of touch with our feelings.
We remembered that we are Human Beings not Human Doings.
I did my Reiki level 2 course this weekend, where we were thinking, discussing and meditating on this very theme. I absolutely loved the Reiki 2 and one of the main reasons was the opportunity to spend time on me: feeling, sensing what is important to me, giving myself the time to tune into my awareness, allowing myself the time to Be and not to Do.
Interestingly, this week I ran a MindBalance class for our Well Being Wednesday, which is Mindful Movement combined with Meditation. We had the opportunity to feel; sense how our bodies felt, what our minds were saying and importantly, what our souls were feeling. It was a chance for people to slow down and listen to All of themselves, after all we are made up of Mind, Body and Soul.
In my experience, if we neglect one area of our being, then we feel out of alignment everywhere! If you focus on having the strongest, fittest, most flexible body and neglect the things that truly make your heart sing, then you will never feel truly happy. If we spend all our hours expanding and educating our minds and ignore our health by excessive drinking, smoking, eating junk food etc, then we will also find ourselves in a very unhappy place.
I’m sure all that makes perfect sense to you, but what about our Souls????? What have you done to nurture your Soul recently?
One of the easiest ways is to get in touch with your feelings and emotions and experience them. Instead of thinking I am reading a book, think about the state/emotion you are in; for example, if the book is educational, you might be gaining clarity, knowledge, understanding, passion and sense what that feels like to you.
Try it this week, think about the things that you DO and change that to thinking about how it makes you BE.
What state of Being are you in when you are Doing that particular thing?
We are three parts, so let’s give each wonderful part of you the attention it deserves 🙂
