Happy New Year!!!
I know many of us are now starting our New Year Resolutions, and if you read my newsletter about this, you’ll know I’m not the biggest fan as they just don’t work. So, a few of you have asked exactly what do I do as you know I do have lots of Intentions for the year ahead.
My starting point is always to look back at 2017 and write down my overriding FEELING for that year – do I feel good about it or was it one of those years that you would say “Annus Horribilis”?
Then I write down what the big highlights were for me, what did I feel was great.
Next, what exactly was it that made it feel so great? What did I do or not do? How did I achieve what it was that made it feel so good? What really made me FEEL alive, joyous, excited, fulfilled, gave me freedom?
The, on to what wasn’t so good, what were the worse things about 2017 and what did I do or not do that allowed that to happen? If I’d known how something was going to turn out then what would I have done differently? How did I FEEL when these things happened?
So, now you have your Map. You know what it was that made you FEEL so great in 2017 and what made you feel not so great, so you know what you need to focus on in 2018. You know what you need to do more of and what you need to do less of so that you spend more time in 2018 doing the things that truly bring you FREEDOM – by that I mean the things that bring you joy, the things that bring you financial freedom, the things that make you feel fulfilled: that’s freedom 🙂
Once you have your Map, you know where you are heading, all you have to do now is follow your Map, stay on your Path and each and every day take one small step towards your Intentions 🙂
Each year I like to have a word that for me sums up my general Intention for that year, something that keeps me on track, something that reminds me of my Intention, something that means something to me:
My word for 2018 is EXPAND.
I’ve chosen that word as for me that summed up the tone of 2017: I could FEEL myself really Expanding on a personal and business level and my Intention for 2018 is to keep Expanding – my definition of Expand and no ones else’s.
2017 was a great year from Expanding my relationships: I got married, I did more with my family, I did more with a wider group of people, I interacted more, I connected with more people, I travelled more, I saw and experienced the most wonderful of places, I tried many new things, I read many new books, I went to different places, I delved deeper into meditation and spiritualism, I learnt so much more about me, I expanded in many ways.
Business – I did many more courses, I qualified in RTT, I brought my love of ‘Mind’ far more into my Pilates classes, I tried out so many new things in our Well Being Wednesday, I chilled more, I enjoyed more, I learnt so much more, I shared more, I met the most interesting people, I understood more, I expanded in many ways.
I’m looking forward to 2018 and the Expansion that will occur, it is a journey and a journey I’m loving 🙂
Was it all perfect? Most definitely not! I spent a lot of time outside my comfort zone, I felt let down by some people’s Integrity (or lack of it), I struggled with TIME, wanting to fit so much in but becoming quite exhausted at times, I put my own health on the back burner as I charged forwards trying to do, trying to be everything to everyone.
So this year, with my theme of Expansion, I am going to focus more on ME, take more care of my own health, do the things that make me FEEL good, that energise me, look at my nutrition, my exercise and work with myself more holistically and give myself more time to just be me!
I’m doing more of what I love and so you’ll notice that I’ve planned some different and interesting workshops/classes at Balance for 2018 and my hope is that you’ll join me and discover a little more about what you love along the way 🙂
My hashtag that my step-daughter Poppy and I are using for 2018 on social media is #yourtimeisnow2018. You can find me (and follow me on Instagram):
