I wanted to share with you this week a quote from an American Philosopher called William James:
“Compared with what we ought to be, we are only half awake. We are making use of only a small part of our physical and mental resources. Stating the thing broadly, the human individual thus lives far within his limits. He possesses powers of various sorts which he habitually fails to use.”
I happen to agree, I don’t think we even come close to using all our capacities in life.
Our bodies are truly amazing, if we treat them well, nourish them with good food, plenty of water and exercise….they will serve us well for many many years.
It’s so important to prioritise ourselves:
Spending money taking care of ourselves, it means valuing yourself enough to make sure you spend money on the best quality food you can,
Committing to the time and money to attend your regular Pilates class,
Prioritising time and money to continual personal growth,
Making sure that YOUR life is as fulfilling as it can possibly be,
Not letting time go by and then looking back with regret that you never got to fulfil your dreams.
Consistency is the key to maintaining a successful mindset!
As most of you know, I have been teaching Pilates full time for over 15 years now, and still have quite a lot of my original clients with me!
Whenever I run a beginners class, it always surprises me at just how little the ‘average’ person can cope with – whatever their age! It makes me realise just how wonderfully my clients are looking after their bodies, and how much they can still do :).
I feel a great sense of pride that some of my ‘older’ clients are so much more physically able than so many younger people out there!
Consistency pays off!
Coming every week for years will without any doubt ensure that you have a far happier, more active life…..and surely that’s what we all want?!
Looking after your body is vital, but equally as important is looking after your mind.
It’s not just learning about how to do that, we’ve all read mindset books, listened to talks, programmes etc etc , but, for you to make that change YOU have to apply what you have learnt.
As you do with Pilates, attending classes, workshops run by an experienced leader, is the only way to really achieve sustainable change in your lives.
Just like looking after your body, the answer is consistency: pick one small area that you want to improve on, e.g. mindset, and attend classes consistently until you have mastered that skill, then move onto the next skill you wish to master – simple 🙂
Yes, YOU can unlock your potential, you can do more, be more and have more – it’s all in your hands 🙂
