After a couple of weeks back home and some time for reflection on what I learnt (or re-awakened) whilst exploring the national parks in the US, I want to share with you what I experienced.

I know lots of you saw the pictures on Facebook, you saw the wonderful scenery, the diversity of the different areas, the vastness of their parks, the intense colours of the rocks, but, what the photos don't capture is how all of that makes you FEEL.

When you reconnect with nature, the wilderness, you really do find the meaning of life, you experience what it feels to be truly alive, nature on that scale is humbling but inspiring, exciting but calming, challenging but satisfying, nature is what life is all about, but so many of us have been brainwashed into thinking that life is a mobile phone, an iPad, Facebook, the latest celebrity antics in the news, X Factor or X box………..

In nature you FEEL alive, you FEEL connected, we forget that WE are simply a part of nature and it is a part of us, so if we spend all our hours in our house, the car, train, office and back to our house, it makes it very hard to FEEL truly alive, and even harder to find the meaning of our lives.

I found this written by Sohail Mahmood that sums it up so well.

A few minutes
of solitude
in majestic nature
is bliss
and
is food
for the soul.
Lucky are the ones
who can have it
for they indeed enriched their souls.
People too busy to take time out for these moments
to connect with their souls through nature
have definitely suffered unknowingly.
So take heed and
take time out each day to
connect with nature
for that is
the food for the soul.

When are you happiest? For me, it was being in some of the most awe inspiring places we have on earth, being in silence and just listening to the mountains, the rocks, the trees, the space, the water, the wild animals, just listening and being with the pulse of life 🙂
