Last Friday myself, Rosalyn and Susan hosted our first Slim Forever Workshop. What a fabulous day we had, there was a great buzz in the room and we’ve had some wonderful feedback from those who attended.
I wanted to share with you some of the big takeaways from this event that you could put into practice yourself:
1. Make sure that whatever you choose to do is ENJOYABLE, we only ever voluntarily repeat that which we enjoy. If you are looking for long term success, this is crucial.
2. Willpower is simply forcing yourself to do something you do not want to do – willpower will NEVER lead to sustainable results.
3. Choose your words carefully, take your thoughts seriously and be very aware of how you talk to yourself as everything you say, think and intend will be reflected in your life! If you say to yourself ‘you will always be fat’ you will.
4. Sugar cravings are very often due to Nutrient Deficiencies – we are never truly starving hungry but we are often starved of everything. If you struggle to get in the minimum 5 fruit and veg per day then use a good quality supplement. I use Lean Greens (you can get this from me at the studio)
5. Sugar cravings are often your brain craving Oxytocin – give it what it wants by finding Oxytocin in a different way, for example by hugging, laughing, watching a funny film, massage, touch etc.
6. Don’t feel you have to eliminate everything in your life, but do watch your portion size and make sure whatever has the most calories is the smallest portion on your plate and whatever has the fewest calories is the largest portion on your plate.
7. Always carry your FUEL box – then if you are running late, not at home, you will not be tempted to buy junk food.
8. Read labels – junk food really is junk and what they put in our food is scary!
9. Eat the 4 R’s, foods that ROAM, foods that are RAW, foods that you RECOGNISE and foods that ROT.
10. We all have deeply held beliefs around food and we need to be aware of the ones that are holding us back from losing the weight we want. If you can’t do this by yourself then contact me or Ros and we can help you get rid of these deeply held beliefs and replace with ones that serve you better.
11. Einstein’s quote is so accurate:”Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of Insanity”. If you find yourself going on a diet every year or every couple of years – it’s time to try something new!
